Kaeding Finishes
Tenth At Knoxville
By: Joe Burrage & The Insider
Knoxville,
Iowa (June 27, 2009) - Tim Kaeding and the Roth Motorsports
Team were looking to rebound from there 16th place finish at U.S. 36
Speedway in Missouri on Friday night. The perfect
place for that to happen is Knoxville Raceway, which happens to be Guy
Forbrook's home track.
Things started off great for Kaeding and the DTR
No.83, they were second quick in hot laps with a perfect qualifying
position ahead of them. Keeping a very close eye on the track
conditions before taking his one lap on the clock. When Kaeding
was done with his qualifying lap he had timed in at 15.145 seconds, good
enough for 14th quick overall.
With qualifying out of the way the DTR crew lead
by Guy Forbrook went to work right away. Kaeding had a front row
starting position in Heat Two and had to make the Dash or he was in for
a very long night. Kaeding came down to take the green flag with
Terry McCarl running a very close second. Kaeding would hold the
lead until the fourth lap when McCarl squeezed by him for the lead.
Kaeding would finish second in the heat but also grab a birth in the
dash later in the evening.
The always important Crane Cams Dash was next for
Kaeding and the Roth Motorsports Team. When 4 year old Fiona drew
the ninth starting position for Kaeding in the Dash, Kaeding knew he
would have to drive a perfect race to improve his starting position for
the 25-lap, A-Main. Once the Dash got going the DTR No. 83 was not
responding to the changes made by the crew, Kaeding did everything he
could, it just was not enough as the Dennis and Teresa Roth owned No.83
would finish in the tenth position.
Guy Forbrook and the crew gathered around and
discussed set up for the the 25-lap feature. With Kaeding giving
his input, Ray, Nate, and Guy Forbrook made the changes confident they
could at least move up and make a run for a top five finish. The
A-Main quickly got underway with Kaeding running the cushion on the very
narrow track.
Kaeding would continue to hold his line for five
more laps and then dipped down to the bottom where the car did not
respond at all, so Kaeding kept to the middle and the cushion trying to
run down Johnny Herrera and Don Droud, Jr. for eighth and ninth place.
Kaeding's time was running out, he just couldn't move the DTR
No.83 forward in the feature until the last two laps where the car felt
best. Kaeding would finish in the tenth position when the 25 laps
were completed.

Kaeding Finishes Second At The Skagit Dirt Cup
By: Joe Burrage & The Insider
Tim Kaeding and The Roth Motorsports Team had one
thing in mind when they made the long trip to Skagit Speedway, Win!
Kaeding has had numerous podiums finishes over the years but the Dirt
Cup keeps getting the best of Kaeding for some reason.
The Dennis and Teresa Roth owned DTR No.83 had
some bad luck on Thursday night in the feature when a U-Joint decided to
explode ending a very promising night early for the Roth Motorsports
Team. Kaeding and the DTR No.83 would finish in the 20th position when
things were all said and done.
With the broken U-Joint taken care of, Guy
Forbrook and the crew of Ray and Nate spent most of the day going over
the Roth Motorsports No.83 before Kaeding would hit the track for night
two. Kaeding would come out firing on all cylinders as he quickly won
his heat race driving a very smart and aggressive race. Next up for
Kaeding was the 30-lap A-Main where he started in the eighth position.
Kaeding knew he had a good car for the feature and
Guy Forbrook made sure he gave him every opportunity to drive to the
front. Once the A-Main got underway Kaeding went to his usual line
along the cushion where he would spend most of the race running down the
leaders. After a very demanding 30-laps, Kaeding brought home the Roth
Motorsports DTR No.83 in the second position.
The stage was set, Kaeding was starting in the
eighth position right next to his brother Bud. Kaeding and the crew
were all business Saturday night with $25,000 on the line. Guy Forbrook
made sure everything was on point for the 40-lap Dirt Cup Race Of
Champions. When the A-Main got going Kaeding used the bottom of the
track early to maintain his seventh place position, but that didn't last
long as the always entertaining driver from San Jose, California moved
to the cushion and really started to make up ground.
The very dusty Skagit Speedway was starting to
come around to Kaeding's liking. By lap five Kaeding cracked the top
five, and he would hold the position for awhile until the traffic really
got thick. In the very intense traffic Kaeding managed to weave his way
through all the way up to the third position. Things got even more
interesting with a yellow flag on lap-35, that found Kaeding running in
the second position with a chance to take the lead if he could get by
defending Dirt Cup Champion Jayme Barnes. On the re-start Barnes
quickly put some distance between himself and Kaeding and it would be
enough for him to hold on for the win as Kaeding would finish in the
second position.
